President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan sent a condolence letter on the demise of Babken Ararktsyan.

"I was deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Babken Ararktsyan, a statesman, politician, the first Speaker of the National Assembly.

Babken Ararktsyan's merit and contribution to the establishment of our statehood and political thought is undeniable. He was one of the few principled figures for whom the public and state interest took precedence over any other idea or reality.

Babken Ararktsyan's political, public, scientific and pedagogical activity is a shining example of civic courage, state-centered mindset and high awareness of responsibility for any politician and citizen.

My deepest condolences to Babken Ararktsyan's family, relatives and friends."
