Telegrams of Condolence
President Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed his condolences to the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö
President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan sent a condolence letter to the President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö in connection with the decease of the former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari.
The letter reads:
"I was saddened to learn about the decease of the former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, a winner of the Nobel Prize, a prominent figure.
Ahtisaari dedicated his entire life and activities to building an equitable and peaceful world and consolidated his incessant service around the motherland sparing no efforts to protect the rights of other nations. This is a figure who turned peace into his mission and made an exceptional contribution to the formation of modern Finland, the development of Armenian-Finnish relations, and the prevention and settlement of conflicts on different continents. After leaving the office of the President of Finland, Ahtisaari continued his uncompromising fight for peace, remaining dedicated to universal values throughout his life.
Ahtisaari, who won the Nobel Prize for his contribution to peacebuilding, believed that "wars and conflicts are not inevitable. ... And those with power and influence can also stop them." In the present challenging times, these words are an important call for action to establish peace."
