President Serzh Sargsyan sent a letter of condolences on the occasion of demise of the renowned artist, Gayane Khatchatrian.
The letter states:
“Armenian Art suffered a profound loss. Gayane Khatchatrian - a renowned artist, master of dream colors and fairy tale characters, passed away.
After Parajanov it was she who became a unique symbol of the Armenian community of Tbilisi, and whose name has transcended borders of state and national recognition long ago. Her art shows us the way and the bright images created by her take us along toward the clean horizons of optimism.
Alas, her personal exhibition to be presented this year at the world-famous Venice Biennale will go on without her.
I express my deepest condolences to the family and admirers of the great artist. The only consolation is that while artists are mortal, their works are eternal.”
