Today President Serzh Sarkissian sent a letter of condolences to the President of the People's Republic of China, Hu Jintao.

The letter states:
“On behalf of the Republic of Armenia and my own I express to you and to the people of friendly China our deepest condolences regarding a devastating earthquake in Sichuan province which claimed numerous lives.

We share the grief of the victims’ families and friends and wish speedy recovery to the injured.

I am confident that the Chinese people will be able to rapidly heal spiritual wounds and material damage caused by this tragic earthquake.
