Address by President Serzh Sargsyan to the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival

I cordially welcome the organizers, participants and guests of the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival. Being held in Yerevan for the 12th time, the festival is the achievement of its initiators and implementers, and is a great holiday that all Yerevan dwellers look forward to.

It is characteristic that the Golden Apricot has become the leading festival in our region. Owing this very festival, Armenia reveals itself anew to many prominent representatives of world cinematography, our circle of friends and their geography keep on expanding, causing us great happiness.

It is also important that the festival gives fresh impetus to our national film culture. Young people get the opportunity to attend skills development courses of eminent artists who will surely inspire them to initiate and shoot new film projects. It is beyond doubt that the festival greatly enriches the cultural life of Armenia.

I once again welcome the 12th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival. I am confident that it will become a platform for new film discoveries which will build new bridges between various cultures, thereby encouraging dialogue between civilizations.

I wish the Golden Apricot’s organizers strength and vigor to continue their noble work with the same zeal in the future.
