President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation headed by Manish Kumar Gupta, Commandant of India’s National Defence College.

President Khachaturyan welcomed the guests and underscored the importance of developing friendly relations between Armenia and India and expanding the scope of cooperation.

“Your visit means that we can genuinely expand the scope of cooperation between our countries in the future. There is no doubt about the future of Armenia-India friendly relations. They also have a civilizational dimension and a long history. In recent years, bilateral relations have acquired a special substance, and I am confident that this trend will continue.

India is a reliable partner and is of particular importance in the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia,” the President said.

Manish Kumar Gupta thanked the President for receiving the delegation, for the opportunity to meet with him, and for his warm words.

During the meeting, the sides highly valued the effective cooperation established between Armenia and India in the defense sector, as well as the existing potential for expanding cooperation.

The sides also emphasized the importance of cooperation in multilateral formats, highlighting the effective interaction that has developed in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence and high technologies, education, and other areas, as well as the need to develop new opportunities for cooperation.

Views were exchanged on the importance of establishing direct air connectivity between Armenia and India. It was emphasized that the operation of direct flights could create new opportunities for expanding business, tourism, educational, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The sides also touched upon the development of regional infrastructure and the importance of contributing efforts in this direction. In this context, the advancement of initiatives aimed at developing regional connectivity, interconnectedness, and economic cooperation was highlighted.

The meeting also addressed the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17), which will be held in Armenia in October. The importance of the conference was emphasized in terms of consolidating international efforts to address global environmental challenges and preserve biodiversity.

President Khachatryan highlighted India’s extensive experience and expertise in this field and expressed hope that India, through its high-level representation at the conference, would actively contribute to its work and discussions on the agenda items.

The sides emphasized the importance of the continued development of warm and friendly relations between Armenia and India, deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and expanding interaction into new areas.
