President Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the State Revenue Committee
Today, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Eduard Hakobyan presented the President with an overview of the Committee’s current activities, reforms implemented in recent years, the key directions of strategic planning, and upcoming developments.
The meeting also addressed the priorities of tax policy outlined in the Government Programme and the main approaches to their implementation.
The participants discussed issues related to improving the efficiency of tax administration, ensuring state revenues, strengthening tax compliance, as well as developing cooperation between the state and business entities.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that the effectiveness of the tax system should be assessed not only in terms of revenues collected, but also from the perspective of the environment it creates for economic development. In this context, the importance of continuously developing partnership relations between the State Revenue Committee and the business community was highlighted.
It was noted that the foundation of the SRC’s activities should not be an approach focused on penalizing businesses, identifying violations, and imposing fines, but rather on supporting businesses operating lawfully, with the aim of ensuring that they are better protected in their relations with the state, enabling them to properly fulfill their tax obligations, and creating the necessary conditions for the unhindered development of business.
The importance of a predictable and fair tax environment was also emphasized, that simultaneously ensures sustainable growth in state revenues and promotes economic activity.
The President of the Republic highlighted the importance of the State Revenue Committee’s ongoing reforms, viewing them in the broader context of enhancing the efficiency of public administration and the country’s overall economic development.
