President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador of India to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, who is completing her diplomatic mission in Armenia.

The President thanked the Ambassador for her work during her tenure and for her efforts aimed at developing Armenian-Indian relations. Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that friendly and trust-based relations have been established between Armenia and India, and that these relations have been developing actively in recent years.

“We cooperate quite actively in various fields, including political, cultural, and economic spheres. Cooperation is also active at the intergovernmental and interparliamentary levels. I have great confidence and hope that we will take our relations to a new level in the near future,” the President noted.

Ambassador Nilakshi Saha Sinha expressed her gratitude for the reception and words of appreciation. She emphasized the importance of the warm and friendly ties and cooperation established during her diplomatic mission in Armenia.

During the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on the close and effective cooperation established between Armenia and India in the field of defense. It was noted that this cooperation is developing dynamically and has become one of the important areas of bilateral partnership.

The sides also discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in the economic, cultural, educational, and high-technology sectors, emphasizing the importance of fully utilizing the existing potential and implementing joint programs.

The possibility of establishing direct air connectivity between Armenia and India was also discussed. It was noted that the launch of direct flights would contribute to increasing tourist flows between the two countries, deepening people-to-people contacts and mutual understanding, as well as strengthening economic and business ties.
The sides highlighted the high-level reciprocal visits and meetings held at various levels in recent years, which have provided new impetus to the development of Armenian-Indian relations and the strengthening of mutual trust.

During the conversation, the sides also touched upon COP17, which will be held in Armenia. The President emphasized the importance of the conference in terms of addressing global climate and environmental challenges through the joint efforts of the international community. India’s readiness to participate in the conference with a high-level delegation was highly appreciated, with emphasis placed on the importance of India’s engagement in deepening cooperation on these key issues of the global agenda.
