President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Mesrop Mesropyan, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission.

Welcoming the guest, the President emphasized the Commission’s role in the country’s economic and infrastructure development, noting that under the current geopolitical and regional circumstances, the stable, predictable, and efficient operation of the energy sector is of particular importance for Armenia.

President Khachaturyan stated that, in the context of the development of renewable and alternative energy, the strengthening of energy independence, and the ongoing reforms in the sector, the Commission’s consistent and systematic work is of great significance.

Mesrop Mesropyan thanked the President for the reception and presented the Commission’s current activities, the work being carried out in the sector, and its upcoming programs.

He addressed the overall situation in the energy system, the challenges facing the sector, as well as the impact of international and regional developments on energy markets.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of issues related to Armenia’s energy policy, the prospects for the development of renewable energy sources, measures aimed at improving the investment environment, as well as matters concerning the protection of consumers’ interests and the enhancement of the quality of public services.

Views were exchanged on trends in the development of the energy sector in a rapidly changing world, the strengthening of energy security, and the strategic directions for the sector’s long-term development.
