President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received members of the Estonia–Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Riigikogu.
The President welcomed the guests and expressed satisfaction that bilateral relations continue to develop actively.
“Our friendly relations, which are based on shared democratic values, continue to develop dynamically not only at the bilateral and multilateral levels, but also within the broader framework of the Armenia–EU partnership,” the President said.
Vahagn Khachaturyan also referred to the recent visit of Estonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which an important event took place marked by the opening of the Estonian resident embassy in Yerevan.
“It will make a significant contribution to further deepening multi-sectoral cooperation and people-to-people ties,” the President added, also emphasizing the importance of developing and intensifying interparliamentary relations.
Member of the Estonia–Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Ando Kiviberg thanked the President for the warm reception, emphasizing that the relations established between Estonia and Armenia are based on mutual trust, respect, and shared values. According to him, the two countries have many similarities related to historical experience, the path of democratic development, and overcoming a number of challenges.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of agenda issues related both to bilateral cooperation and interaction within the European Union–Armenia framework. The importance of deepening effective cooperation in various fields, especially in digitalization and e-governance, was emphasized, taking into account Estonia’s leading experience in this area.
The sides also touched upon regional realities and the current security and political situation. Views were exchanged regarding the new environment formed after the Armenia–US agreements of August 8, 2025, as well as the opportunities and prospects opening up for Armenia and the entire region, emphasizing the importance of stability and cooperation.
During the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on the continuity of initiatives aimed at strengthening and consolidating democratic institutions, as well as mutual support in the areas of the rule of law, transparent governance, and the protection of human rights.
