President Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)
Within the framework of his working visit to Switzerland, the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, visited the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), one of the world’s leading scientific centers.
During the visit, the President toured the center’s laboratory facilities, became acquainted with the applied and scientific research activities being carried out, as well as the international scientific and educational programs operating at CERN.
It was noted that since 1998, CERN has been implementing an international teacher training program aimed at improving the quality of teaching physics and related natural sciences. To date, thousands of teachers from various countries around the world have participated in the program. Within the framework of this initiative, a separate program is also in place for Armenian teachers, under which, in 2024, a group of teachers from Armenia underwent training at CERN for the first time.
The President also met with a group of Armenian teachers currently at CERN as part of this year’s training program. During the discussion, issues related to participation in the program, the professional experience gained, and the application of it within Armenia’s education system were addressed.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized the importance of the continuity of such initiatives, highlighting the key role of international cooperation in the development of education and science.
