The President of the Republic met with the President of Iran
President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan held a meeting at the Presidential Residence with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, who is on an official visit to Armenia.
President Khachaturyan welcomed his counterpart, emphasizing the importance of friendly bilateral relations and expressing confidence that the visit of the Iranian President would contribute to the further deepening of Armenia-Iran relations, as well as to strengthening peace and stability in the region.
President Pezeshkian, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and partnership.
During the meeting, the sides discussed possible ways of realizing the existing potential for cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and many other fields. The bilateral agreements reached and documents signed during the official visit were assessed positively, with both sides stressing that with joint efforts they will be fully implemented.
President Khachaturyan also noted that one of the best examples of close Armenian-Iranian partnership is the impressive work carried out by Iranian road construction companies on the Syunik section of the North-South transport corridor, which vividly reflects the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation and the high level of mutual trust.
The conversation also touched upon the regional and geopolitical situation. In this context, the interlocutors referred to Armenia’s proposed “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
The sides emphasized that establishing stable and lasting peace and creating trade routes based on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of states would be beneficial for the entire region.
