President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Head of the Latvia-Armenia Friendship Group Gunārs Kūtris
President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation led by Gunārs Kūtris, Head of the Latvia-Armenia Friendship Group of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia.
Welcoming the guests, President Khachaturyan highlighted the important role of interparliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations.
“We highly value parliamentary diplomacy. Since 2018, Armenia has adopted a parliamentary system of governance,” the President noted.
In his remarks, the President also stated that the two countries enjoy strong and friendly relations, both bilaterally and multilaterally, within the framework of the European Union.
“We value our cooperation on both levels. I believe there are great untapped opportunities between our countries, especially in terms of deepening economic cooperation,” added the President.
Gunārs Kūtris expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized that the purpose of their delegation’s visit is to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to fully realize the cooperation potential between the two nations. Both sides stressed the importance of advancing parliamentary diplomacy as an effective platform for dialogue and trust-building.
They also touched upon the need to deepen ties and develop cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres, as well as between business communities.
The meeting included an exchange of views on the regional situation. In this context, President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia’s clear stance aimed at achieving lasting and sustainable peace. He emphasized that regional stability and development are only possible under conditions of mutual respect, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.
The discussion also covered the Armenian Government’s strategic “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, aimed at creating new economic opportunities for all countries in the region. President Khachaturyan underscored that this project could serve as a unique guarantee for regional security and comprehensive development.
