President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador of Greece to Armenia, Christos Sofianopoulos

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Armenia, Christos Sofianopoulos, on the occasion of Greece’s Independence Day.

Welcoming the guest, the President congratulated the leadership and people of Greece on their national holiday through the ambassador.

“Our relations with Greece hold special significance for our people. Armenia highly values the historically close ties with Greece, which have deep and strong roots based on mutual sympathy, support, and solidarity,” the President stated.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Christos Sofianopoulos remarked: “It is a great honor for me to be here. Armenia is a friend of our country, with whom our relations go back centuries. Our bilateral relations are developing and deepening even further today.”

During the meeting, the sides discussed a broad agenda of cooperation between the two countries. They emphasized the importance of fully realizing the potential for collaboration in political, economic, cultural, military, high-tech, and other fields.

Particular attention was given to the prospects of further promoting the exchange of best practices in education, including military education.

The discussion also included an exchange of views on expanding the close cooperation between Armenia and Greece, both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union and other international platforms. Additionally, they explored the opportunities for fully implementing the potential of the Armenia-Greece-Cyprus trilateral format.
