President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation headed by Ara Shahverdyan, head of the Iran-Armenia Friendship Group of the Majles of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Welcoming the guests, the President said, “I am pleased to host you in Armenia. It is worth noting that the past year was quite effective in terms of developing our bilateral relations and the intensity of mutual visits. Armenia highly values the consistent strengthening of friendly relations with Iran. For us, Iran has always been and remains a special partner.”

The President of Armenia also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the format of friendship groups and regular meetings between representatives of legislative bodies, noting the significant role of parliaments in fostering bilateral relations and creating an atmosphere of mutual trust and full understanding.

The head of the Iran-Armenia Friendship Group expressed gratitude for the reception. “I am glad to have the opportunity to meet with You. Let me convey the greetings of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Majles Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. They personally wish You and the Armenian people success and hope that 2025 will be a prosperous year for the peoples of Iran and Armenia,” said Ara Shahverdyan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the further development of bilateral relations, with special attention to deepening cooperation in the economic and political spheres. They emphasized the necessity of expanding cooperation in the fields of communication routes and infrastructure.

The interlocutors also touched upon issues of regional security, particularly highlighting the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative presented by the Armenian government as a tool for establishing lasting peace and security in the South Caucasus.
