President Vahagn Khachaturyan participated in the ceremony dedicated to Judiciary Day

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan participated in the solemn ceremony dedicated to Judiciary Day. During the event, the President delivered a speech:

“Today, I have the honor of welcoming you to the solemn ceremony dedicated to Judiciary Day.

I would like to begin my speech with two references that mark the start of each of your duties. These refer to the oaths taken by judges and members of the Supreme Judicial Council.

“Assuming the high position of a judge, I swear before the people of the Republic of Armenia to fulfill the duties of a judge in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, ensuring the supremacy of law and upholding the authority of the judiciary.’’

“Assuming the high position of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council, I swear before the people of the Republic of Armenia to fulfill my duties in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, ensuring the supremacy of law and guaranteeing the independence of courts and judges.’’

These two texts embody the fundamental principles of our justice system.
The judiciary is one of the most important institutions of a democratic society and a cornerstone of our statehood.

Its independence and efficiency are key prerequisites for the establishment of a democratic society.

On the path to building a legal state in our country, the role of the judiciary cannot be overstated. It is for this reason that the functioning of the judiciary greatly influences society’s and citizens’ perception of the state. In this regard, the transparency of the judicial system, ensuring access to justice, and public trust are of utmost importance.

Significant work remains to be done in these areas, and the reforms carried out within the judicial system should aim to address these issues.

I want to once again emphasize that the independence of the judiciary is not only a constitutional requirement but also one of the natural guarantees of democracy. Every judge must act solely in accordance with the law and their conscience.

On this festive day, I would like to express my gratitude to our judges and all the employees of the judiciary for their work. Your daily efforts contribute to strengthening the rule of law and the realization of justice in our country.
I am confident that, with a united effort, we will be able to overcome the existing challenges and create a judicial system that is independent, efficient, and fully trusted by society.

Once again, I congratulate all of you on the Judiciary Day. I wish you continued success in fulfilling your responsible mission.”
