Newly appointed Ambassador of Cyprus to Armenia Michael Mavros presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Armenia Michael Mavros presented his credentials to the President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Congratulating the newly appointed Ambassador on taking office, the President noted: "I am confident that Your appointment will open a new period in our relations, our friendly relations have a centuries-old history, and it was natural that after Armenia gained independence, the tradition of friendship between our peoples should have continued".

Expressing gratitude for the welcome and kind words, Ambassador Mavros noted that he would make every effort to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, agenda issues of cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus, both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union, were discussed. The importance of steps aimed at the full realization of the potential of cooperation existing in the fields of culture, high technology, economy and other spheres was noted. The sides stressed the importance of implementation of joint measures aimed at promoting cooperation in the economic sphere.

Over the course of the conversation, the sides exchanged views on regional and global realities, current events and existing challenges.

The sides also stressed the importance of opening diplomatic missions in Armenia and Cyprus in the near future, which will contribute to the Armenian-Cypriot friendly relations.

A positive assessment was given to the further expansion of the Armenia-Greece-Cyprus trilateral cooperation.
