Ambassador of the Netherlands to Armenia Marieke Harriet Monroy-Winter presented her credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia Marieke Harriet Monroy-Winter presented her credentials to the President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Congratulating the newly appointed Ambassador, President Khachaturyan expressed hope that the latter would make all necessary efforts to strengthen Armenian-Dutch relations and stimulate bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. "We attach great importance to our relations with the Netherlands, which are based on the common values of democracy. The Netherlands is known for its principled position on all issues related to democracy.

Our countries established diplomatic relations in 1992, but they were especially emphasized after 2019, when the Dutch government announced the opening of an embassy residence in Yerevan.

We attach great importance to our cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, especially in the context of the Armenia-EU partnership. I can note that this cooperation has contributed to the establishment and consolidation of democratic institutions in our country. I am full of hope that our cooperation in this direction will continue in the future," the President of the Republic said.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Armenia expressed gratitude for the reception. "I fully agree with You, that since the establishment, our diplomatic relations have grown effectively over the years, and today we have an embassy here. The wish of our Government is to keep supporting Armenia, because, as you rightly noted, the Netherlands is a supporter of democracy and the rule of law. We try to be helpful and support the direction that Armenia has taken," the Ambassador said.

Over the course of the meeting, issues related to the strengthening of Armenia-Netherlands cooperation were discussed. Both sides emphasized the importance of close cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union.

The sides exchanged views on regional realities and the general situation. In this context, the President of the Republic emphasized the firm and willing position of the Armenian side in achieving stable peace and having orderly and neighborly relations with its neighbors.
