President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, Ana Olivera, and the Vice-President of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, Pedro Federico Khisdonyan.
Welcoming the guests, the President expressed confidence that Ana Olivera's visit would serve as an additional incentive for further intensification of cooperation between the two states. The President noted that Armenia and Uruguay have always been linked by friendly relations, and relations between the two countries are developing dynamically in all spheres. The President of the Republic thanked the leadership of Uruguay for the support it always provides in matters concerning our country.
The President of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, Ana Olivera, expressed gratitude for the reception and noted that she visits Armenia with great joy and enthusiasm. Ana Olivera stressed the special role of the Armenian community of Uruguay in strengthening friendly relations between our countries.
During the meeting, issues related to the further development of friendly relations between Armenia and Uruguay were discussed. Both sides stressed the importance of stimulating steps aimed at fully realizing the potential of cooperation existing in the economy, education, sports, high technology, tourism and other fields. The positive role of close cooperation between the two countries on various international platforms was emphasized.
The sides highly appreciated the importance of opening the Armenian Embassy in Uruguay.
Regional realities and developments were touched upon during the conversation. In this context, Ana Olivera emphasized that Uruguay unequivocally supports Armenia's position to achieve stable and lasting peace in the region and establish neighborly relations with its neighbors.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the measures taken by the Armenian government to solve the socio-economic problems of internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.
