President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador of Italy Alfonso Di Riso

On the eve of the national holiday of Italy-Republic Day, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic Alfonso Di Riso.

Welcoming the guest, the President congratulated him on the holiday and wished success to the people and leadership of Italy.

"The Republic Day is one of the most important symbolic days for Italy and, I think, for any democratic state, the meaning of which is to strive to have a democratic, prosperous and developing country," the President noted.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the reception and kind words and stressed that he makes every effort so that the events dedicated to the Italian National Day serve to develop and strengthen the relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, issues on the agenda of further development of cooperation between Armenia and Italy were discussed. A reference was made to the ways of realizing the mutual potential in culture, education and other fields and the necessary steps in this direction.

Both sides positively assessed the significant growth of direct flights between Armenia and Italy, as a result of which mutual visits of citizens of the two countries significantly increased, as well as new opportunities were created to promote trade and economic cooperation and expand trade turnover.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the general situation and developments in the region. The President of the Republic emphasized that Armenia is firmly moving towards establishing good-neighborly relations with its neighbors and achieving stable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus region.
