President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation headed by President of Chamber of Deputies of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Claude Wiseler.

Welcoming the guests, President Khachaturyan, in particular, said: "I am glad to welcome You and Your delegation to the presidential residence. We highly appreciate Your and Luxembourg’s support to Armenia in these difficult times. We are very grateful for the support You provide to the Republic of Armenia.

Inter-parliamentary cooperation, specifically, is highly appreciated in the relations between our countries."

Claude Wiseler, in turn, thanked for the warm welcome and noted: "Our relations have a long history, diplomatic relations between our countries have been established since 1992, which have lasted for more than 30 years. We have cooperated very well at the parliamentary level, a good friendly group has been formed, which works effectively.

We had mutual visits even at the executive level. Your foreign minister visited Luxembourg a few months ago and we had a very good discussion with him. In the Parliament of Luxembourg, we often talk about Armenia, because Armenia is an important country for us."

During the meeting, issues on the agenda of both bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Luxembourg and close cooperation existing on the European Union platform were discussed.

The sides mutually appreciated the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in the relations between the two countries and the active cooperation of deputy friendship groups.

During the conversation, the democratic reforms carried out in Armenia in recent years were touched upon, in connection with which the President of the Republic stressed that Armenia is steadily moving towards the establishment and strengthening of democratic institutions and values.

Touching upon the regional realities, President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed the clear position of the Republic of Armenia on achieving stable and lasting peace and establishing orderly and good-neighborly relations with all neighbors without preconditions.

During the meeting, President Khachaturyan awarded the President of Chamber of Deputies of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Claude Wiseler with a Medal of Gratitude for his significant contribution to strengthening and developing friendly relations between Armenia and Luxembourg, in protecting humanitarian values.
