President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Françoise Jacob, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Armenia, responsible person for UN Security.
Welcoming the guest, the President congratulated him on his appointment to a responsible position and wished him success in his mission.
"Since independence, the cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the United Nations has been multi-layered and effective. I am confident that your appointment will be a new incentive for many joint programs currently being implemented with the United Nations," the President of the Republic noted.
Thanking for the reception and congratulatory words, Françoise Jacob noted that she is glad to be in Armenia and will make every effort to develop multi-sectoral cooperation between Armenia and the United Nations.
During the meeting, issues related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, expansion of cooperation in the field of green energy, economics, agriculture, human capital development and other spheres were discussed.
Reference was made to the bilateral activities regarding a number of initiatives and programs implemented jointly with the support of the United Nations.
In his speech, the President of the Republic highly appreciated the various social programs implemented by the United Nations, including humanitarian support provided to forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the fundamental directions adopted by Armenia: education, alternative energy, green economy development, as well as necessary steps towards environmental protection.
At the end of the meeting, President Vahagn Khachaturyan stressed his readiness to assist the activities of the UN Office in Armenia to the extent possible.
