The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Greece
On the occasion of the Independence Day of Greece, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Armenia Christos Sofianopoulos.
Welcoming the guest, the President, in the person of the Ambassador, congratulated the leadership and people of Greece on the national holiday. "We have warm relations with Greece, and this is also related to our history, our principles and beliefs.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the support we have received from Greece in these years and especially in recent years, when Armenia has been experiencing great difficulties. You have been by our side and continue supporting us during the period of overcoming these difficulties. I am confident that our cooperation and this quality of relations will continue," the President of the Republic said.
Extending thanks for the reception, Ambassador Christos Sofianopoulos.noted: "It is a great honor for me to be here. Armenia is a friend of our country, relations with which go back centuries. Our bilateral relations are developing and deepening today.
Greece fully supports Armenia's efforts to establish long-term peace, stability and development in the region."
During the meeting, issues related to the broad agenda of cooperation between the two countries were discussed. The steps taken in the direction of the full implementation of the existing potential in the political, economic, cultural, military, high-tech and other spheres were highlighted.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the opportunities of further expansion close cooperation between Armenia and Greece both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the European Union and other international platforms.
Both sides highly appreciated the reforms carried out in the direction of strengthening democratic values and institutions.
Over the course of the meeting the sides touched upon the general regional realities, as well as the details and principles of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and, in this context, the current contacts on demarcation.
