President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation led by the President of the Czech Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová.
President Khachaturyan welcomed the guests and noted with appreciation that the historically established friendly relations between Armenia and the Czech Republic continue developing.
"I greet you in the Republic of Armenia. I hope that during your visit you will get more information about our country and get to know it better. It is very important for us that our partners develop a holistic view of the Republic of Armenia. Be assured that you are in a democratic country where democratic values are cherished, where the government and state structures of the country are doing their best to make further progress in consolidating democracy. May you have one certainty that in this difficult situation we have been in for the past four years, we have not receded from the path we have chosen, on the contrary, we have become even more convinced that it is these values that will ensure Armenia's prosperity and further development," the President noted.
Touching upon the bilateral relations between Armenia and the Czech Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan noted: "We highly appreciate our bilateral relations, which turned 30 years old last year. They were friendly and mutually beneficial. In this regard, I would like to thank your country within the European Union for its support, which is an additional incentive to solve all the problems we face."
Expressing gratitude for the reception Markéta Pekarová Adamová said, in part: "We highly appreciate our bilateral relations, which have a firm base over the efforts of many years, and we are here to further strengthen these ties. The process of becoming a democratic country is full of challenges, and in this regard, we really see great progress in Armenia. It is very important for us to have prosperous, peaceful partners who share the same values based on democracy, freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of media, human rights, the rule of law. All this is very important, and we fully support you in this process.”
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of developing cooperation between the two countries in the economic, high-tech, cultural and other spheres. The sides noted the importance of developing mutually beneficial partnership between the business circles of Armenia and the Czech Republic and the need to establish new ties.
In his speech, the President of the Republic stressed that the democratic reforms carried out in Armenia in recent years and the fight against corruption contributed not only to the establishment and strengthening of democratic institutions, but also had a positive impact on the economic life of the country, creating an attractive environment for economic activity and investment.
The interlocutors also stressed the importance of close cooperation both in the bilateral format and within the European Union, as well as high-level political dialogue.
During the conversation, reference was made to the general situation and developments in the region. In this context, President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia's unequivocal position to achieve final and stable peace. The President stressed that stability comes from the interests of partner countries in the region and beyond, as wider opportunities for economic development arise.
