Ambassador of Norway to Armenia Bergljot Hovland presented her credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Armenia Bergljot Hovland presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.
President Khachaturyan congratulated the newly appointed ambassador and wished her success in fulfilling his responsible mission. The President expressed hope in making all necessary efforts by ambassador Bergljot Hovland to strengthen Armenian-Norwegian relations and stimulation of bilateral cooperation in spheres of mutual interest.
"We highly appreciate the noticeable intensification of the effective and constructive dialogue between Armenia and Norway, especially in recent years. We hope to expand the scope of our cooperation, especially with a view to making full use of the existing potential in the economic sphere. I would like to point out that Armenia is quite an attractive country in terms of economic legislation, and we are ready to take steps to promote Norwegian investments in our country," said President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Ambassador Bergljot Hovland in her turn expressed her gratitude for the welcome and noted. "It is a great honor for me to be here. I also want to note that Armenia is an important and special partner for Norway. We are very pleased that the relations between the two countries have strengthened in recent years, and I am ready to contribute to their further expansion and strengthening. I agree that there is potential for growth in terms of economic cooperation, and we should study it."
During the meeting, the sides discussed the directions and opportunities for the development of multisectoral cooperation between Armenia and Norway. In particular, the importance of step activation aimed at the mutual application of best practices in high technology, energy and other fields was noted.
The need to invest efforts for establishing and strengthening mutually beneficial ties between the economic, business and tourism circles of the two countries was emphasized.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the general regional situation and existing developments.
In this context, the President of the Republic presented details about the support programs and measures implemented by the Government to give solution to the social, humanitarian and basic needs of internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Over the course of the conversation, both sides highly appreciated the democratic reforms carried out in Armenia in recent years, which have created a more favorable environment for economic activity and strengthening democratic institutions.
