President Vahagn Khachaturyan visits Armenian-Argentine School in Buenos Aires
As part of his working visit to the Republic of Argentina, President Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the Armenian-Argentine School.
The educational complex was built in 1954 at the initiative of the Siranoush and Boghos Arzoumanian Foundation and was passed on to the Argentine government as sign of appreciation and gratitude for the assistance and support provided to Armenians. Argentinian students study in the educational complex.
The President of the Republic of Armenia was welcomed by the Principal of the school Soledad Strong and the representative of the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires. In honor of the Armenian President's visit to the school, the teaching staff and students of the complex prepared an Armenian-Argentine cultural program including national dance, music and traditions of both countries.
Argentinian students performed a number of Armenian folk works, including compositions of Komitas.
Toward the end of the impressive program, Vahagn Khachaturyan greeted the attendees and emphasized that the Armenian-Argentine School is a vivid evidence of the strong friendship between the Armenian and Argentine peoples.
"Argentina has a special role for us Armenians given its nature, emotions and kind attitude towards Armenians. After the independence of Armenia, this educational cooperation gained a new momentum. I am confident that Armenian-Argentine cooperation will further persist and I am hopeful that our Armenian-Argentine school in Yerevan will make such a beautiful surprise to our Argentine friends who will visit Armenia," said the President.
Toward the end of the meeting, the President left a note in the guest book of the school.
