President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation headed by the President of Asian Development Bank Masatsugu Asakawa.

In his welcome remarks, the President of the Republic of Armenia highly valued the importance and role of the Asian Development Bank in the development of Armenia's economy. "I voice my assessment also as an economist and I can state with conviction that the significance and role of the Asian Development Bank is quite broad in our economy. It is also due to our cooperation that we have sustainability, a high level of integration process, and a competitive economy," the President noted.

Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed hope that the established effective cooperation will persist, covering new sectors of the economy. "I would like to thank you for supporting the reforms in the Republic of Armenia and I also express our willingness to implement joint projects in the future," the President noted.

Masatsugu Asakawa expressed gratitude for the reception and in turn spoke with satisfaction about the cooperation with Armenia that started back in 2005. "I would like to congratulate the Armenian government on the effective cooperation with us over the past 18 years. I would like to express our firm commitment to supporting the government and the people of Armenia. I am privileged to emphasize that as one of the biggest partners for the country's development, we wish to continue our efforts to support Armenia's long-term development plans," the President of the Asian Development Bank noted.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a range of issues on the agenda for the close cooperation formed between Armenia and the Asian Development Bank. The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects and opportunities to further expand and promote the effective cooperation.

In particular, the sides touched upon the implementation of ongoing projects in school construction, road construction, water management among other fields and the target areas for development of new projects.
