Ambassador of Indonesia to Armenia Arief Muhammad Basalamah presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Armenia Arief Muhammad Basalamah (residence: Kyiv) presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.
President Khachaturyan congratulated the newly-appointed Ambassador on assuming the office and wished him success in the forthcoming initiatives. The President expressed hope that during his term in office, Armenian-Indonesian relations will experience a positive dynamic of development.
"Rest assured that we attach great importance to the relations between Armenia and Indonesia. It is true that the distance between our countries is quite large, nevertheless, in terms of desires, as well as readiness, we are highly committed and close to each other. I reserve the right to make such qualifications considering the cooperation on various international platforms throughout our diplomatic relations of over 30 years. I am confident that your designation will contribute to the development of relations between our two countries," the President noted.
Ambassador Arief Muhammad Basalamah expressed gratitude for the reception and noted, "Mr. President, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for the arrangement of my credentials presentation ceremony. Allow me to use this opportunity to extend my regards and best wishes to you on behalf of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
Allow me also to express my pleasure as the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Armenia. I am hopeful that during my diplomatic service I will be able to further strengthen the relations between our two friendly countries for the benefit of our countries and peoples."
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the development prospects and directions of political and economic relations between Armenia and Indonesia. Both sides emphasized that there is a great potential for expanding and developing the commodity turnover between the two countries, as well as cooperation in the fields of high technologies, healthcare, and tourism.
In this context, the activation of efforts for the opening of the Indonesian Embassy in Armenia was emphasized, which will give a new impetus to the deepening of the relations between the two countries.
During the discussion, the interlocutors underscored the effective cooperation between Armenia and Indonesia on various international platforms.
At the meeting, ideas were also exchanged on regional realities and existing security challenges. President Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that the establishment of sustainable and lasting peace is in the best interest of all the countries in the region, and it will contribute to their economic development. The President highlighted that Armenia is committed to the agenda of establishing durable peace in the region and promoting the concept of "crossroads of peace."
