President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan held aworking consultation with the Governor of Syunik region Robert Ghukasyan.

The Governor introduced the President to the details of the overall situation in the region, particularly the needs assessment of the population forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, the ongoing humanitarian aid programs and forthcoming actions.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked the Governor for the effective organization of the massive works implemented in the region in a crisis situation, for the full observance of the atmosphere of consistency and solidarity in difficult conditions. In his speech, the President highlighted that it was possible to address such a large-scale challenge due to the constructive and efficient steps taken by the Government and the joint and coordinated work of state agencies which also received positive reactions from international observers and organizations.

The Governor, in turn, expressed gratitude for the reception and words of appreciation and noted that the work to support the population forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh was organized in an emergency mode with the support of many volunteers. In addition, the issues of the primary needs of the forcibly displaced are provided with urgent solutions and the current programs are mostly focused on housing needs and provision of jobs.
