President Vahagn Khachaturyan receives the delegation of the House of Representatives of Cyprus

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Cyprus-Armenia Inter-parliamentary Commission of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Harris Georgiades.

The President welcomed the guests and emphasized that he highly values the effective cooperation established between the two countries, including the Parliaments, and the activities of the Cypriot Parliamentarians in support of Armenia. "I assure you that we do need your support and we will need it again. It encourages us to address the key issues of preserving our sovereignty and establishing democracy," Vahagn Khachaturyan highlighted.

The head of the delegation expressed gratitude for the reception and underscored that the Cypriot side is ready to support Armenia in the EU, CE and other entities to the best of its ability.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects of deepening the Armenian-Cypriot cooperation, as well as the trilateral Armenia-Greece-Cyprus cooperation. Regional security challenges and opportunities to address them were discussed. In this context, the imperative of establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus region was emphasized.

During the discussion, the interlocutors touched upon issues related to the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh among other humanitarian aspects.
