Ambassador of Iran to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the President for the reception and emphasized that during his tenure he will try to make maximum efforts to further strengthen bilateral ties.

"I have the honor to convey the greetings of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to you and the friendly people of Armenia. Relations between Iran and Armenia are very profound. There is great potential in the relations between the two countries and I will spare no effort to exercise that potential. I sincerely hope that through joint work we will be able to foster our bilateral relations," Ambassador Mehdi Sobhani noted.

President Khachaturyan congratulated the Ambassador and expressed his confidence that the strong relations established between our countries due to his work will further develop.

“Thank you for the greetings of Mr. Raisi. Convey greetings and best wishes on behalf of myself and the Armenian people. The Republic of Armenia has experienced great ordeals during these 30 years, and in that period the relations between us and Iran have developed in all fields including political, economic and cultural," the President noted.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to Armenian-Iranian multi-level cooperation as well as possibilities and prospects of sustained development of cooperation. The sides also touched upon the implementation of projects of regional significance and the full exercise of the existing potential.

During the conversation, ideas were exchanged on the developments in the region. In this context, the newly appointed Ambassador underscored that Iran supports the principle of territorial integrity of countries and the process of establishing sustainable peace and security in the region.

Ideas were also exchanged on the possibilities of cooperation and implementation of joint projects between Armenia and Iran in the fields of high technology, infrastructure and energy.
