Ambassador of France to Armenia Olivier Decottignies presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Olivier Decottignies presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.

President Khachaturyan congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador on assuming the office and wished him success in fulfilling his responsible mission.

The President expressed his confidence that the Ambassador will spare no effort for the continuous strengthening of the Armenian-French relations that are based on the strong foundation of long-standing friendship.

Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that the tenure of Ambassador Olivier Decottignies begins in a difficult period of overcoming security and geopolitical challenges for Armenia and the Armenian people. "I would like to highlight that Armenia highly values the clear and targeted reactions of France that are voiced at various levels. I believe that we have a difficult but productive work ahead of us. I am confident that we will find proper solutions in this situation and we will think more about creative cooperation," the President noted.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the reception and welcome speech. "Armenia and France are friendly countries, and friendly countries ought to help one other in difficult times. France's position regarding the challenges facing Armenia is as follows: obviously, protection of law, respect for law, protection of the population, and of course, sincere pursuit of peace. France is present in all efforts aimed at all these aspects," said the newly appointed French Ambassador to Armenia.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to further expansion of Armenian-French multi-level and friendly relations. The sides also touched upon the regional developments and existing security challenges and pathways to address them.

Both sides emphasized the need to establish sustainable and durable peace in the South Caucasus region. Ambassador Decottignies undersocred that France has a clear position to make all possible efforts to establish peace in our region.

Toward the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to maintain working contacts.
