President Vahagn Khachaturyan receives the delegation of the Armenian Assembly of America

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Executive Director of the Armenian Assembly of America Bryan Ardouny, the Co-chairs of the Armenian Assembly of America Anthony Barsamian and Carolyn Mugar and the Regional Director of the Armenian Assembly of America Arpi Vartanian.

In his welcome remarks, President Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that he is always pleased to receive the delegates of the Assembly and is very well familiar with the effective and important activities of the Armenian Assembly of America from the 90s.

The President placed a special emphasis on the fact that the Assembly has always stood by the state and selflessly implemented and continues to implement numerous projects.

During the meeting, President Khachaturyan introduced the current security challenges of Armenia and the overall situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process. The President underscored that Armenia is open in its relations with all partners, including the USA and European Union member states, and has a clear position on establishing sustainable and durable peace in the region.

The President noted that the work of the Armenian Assembly of America is valuable and essential in terms of providing the American and, in general, the international community with objective information about Armenia, our region and the situation in Nagorno Karabakh.

During the discussion, ideas were exchanged about the relations between Armenia and neighboring countries, as well as the general atmosphere in the country. Touching upon the possibility of opening the border with Turkey, the President emphasized that for Armenia the baseline is the normalization of relations without preconditions and Armenia is committed to that approach.

In addition, President Vahagn Khachaturyan answered the questions of the guests in a frank atmosphere addressing various realities related to the domestic political, economic and social life.
