President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation of the Armenia-Argentina Friendship Group of the Senate of the Republic of Argentina

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Armenia-Argentina Friendship Group of the Senate of the Republic of Argentina, Guillermo Andrada.

In his welcome remarks, President Khachaturyan noted, "Argentina is a unique country for the Republic of Armenia and, in general, for us Armenians. After 1991 when the Republic of Armenia gained independence we had the opportunity to establish diplomatic relations as two countries. It was another incentive to raise our relationship to a different level which we have been doing with great success over the years.

Most importantly, I would like to emphasize is that there is an atmosphere of mutual trust in our relations which enables not only resolving various issues in bilateral relations but also cooperating on various international platforms. I am convinced that your visit will contribute to further development of our relations. In fact, this is your first visit as a parliamentary group since the establishment of our 31 years-old diplomatic relations.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Senator Guillermo Andrada noted, "During these short days in Armenia, we have been able to make ourselves at home. People here are very kind and caring towards us. Throughout these 31 years, we have continuously promoted our relationship. The foundations of relations between our two countries have been laid at the legislative level and we continue to develop relations at the trade and economic levels as well. It is not a hard task for us to do since we have a fairly large Armenian community which is integrated into the life of our country, and this enables us to be effective in terms of bilateral ties. Diplomatic institutions of both sides also support us to strengthen these. On this account, I would like to reiterate that we have the required foundation for our relations to further develop and be mutually beneficial in the best interest of the peoples of our two countries.

Our position is to stand by the Armenian people in this difficult and decisive moment so that you can defend peace and protect people's rights."

During the meeting, the sides touched upon a wide range of issues related to Armenian-Argentine cooperation at various levels. Both sides emphasized the great potential of cooperation in the field of culture, commerce and economy among others.
