President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation of the Poland-Armenia friendship group

President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation led by the Chairman of the Poland-Armenia friendship group Radosław Fogiel.

Welcoming the guests, the President said: “Welcome to the Republic of Armenia. I am well aware of what a big work you do towards the strengthening and development of Armenia-Poland relations, and I express my gratitude to you for your work.

Parliamentary diplomacy has a big role in our relations, which, of course, can also promote the activation of joint work of other branches of the government.

Our two countries are going through tough times. Our regions are not at peace. I am sure that our activities are aimed at reaching peace in these complicated regional conditions.

In this respect, it’s very important for Armenia to have you by our side in these rough and difficult days. I am speaking of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor. We have one goal in our joint work, to share the existing information with you, asking you to share that credible information with all our partners in other countries, because, unfortunately, having wide opportunities to disseminate fake information, our neighboring country is trying to make our partners face a stalemate, falsely saying that Armenia doesn’t want to engage in peaceful negotiations, as if Armenia causes tension in the region. I am sure that your visit will be very useful in this regard.”

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Radosław Fogiel particularly noted in his speech: “It is an honor for us to be here. Undoubtedly, we all agree with the fact that parliamentary diplomacy is a significant part of real diplomacy. We are hopeful that our relations will continue to deepen in a positive direction at both parliamentary and executive levels.

We will work and develop our cooperation in different fields, but the main emphasis will be on the issue of security both in this region and in Europe."

During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of agenda issues. They touched upon the active interaction between the stock exchanges of Armenia and Poland and the prospects for its expansion, as well as the possibility of promoting Armenian-Polish trade and economic relations.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan stressed the importance of active bilateral cooperation with Poland, as well as cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership. The President highlighted that Armenia is committed to the agreements reached with the European Union and approaches the principles of creating democratic institutions and protecting democratic values responsibly.

During the meeting, the sides also touched upon a number of regional realities. They emphasized the imperative of establishing sustainable and everlasting peace in the South Caucasus, as well as the priority of humanitarian issues and the need to restore the normal operation of the Lachin Humanitarian Corridor.
