President Vahagn Khachaturyan received President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan
President Vahagn Khachaturyan received President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan.
Welcoming the guest, the President noted that he attaches importance to the close cooperation of the Constitutional Court and the Presidential Institution, the number one goal of which is to ensure the Constitution and constitutionality in the country.
“As to me, the most important function of the Constitutional Court and the President is to manage to monitor the extent to which the Constitution works and is followed in the Republic of Armenia. I would like to continue our conversation on this topic so that in the future we could also find where our shortcomings are, what can be done more effectively and, most importantly, do it together. I would like to know your opinion on this,” said Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Arman Dilanyan highlighted that it is the number one mission of the President to ensure the protection of the Constitution. “I think that according to our Constitution, this is the most important function of the Presidential Institution. This means, when we read the Constitution, the very first Article about the Presidential Institution says that the President observes compliance with the Constitution. It isn’t declarative, it provides very clear powers. It’s the Presidential system that can fully voice nationwide issues, analysing those issues from an objective angle and presenting them to the Constitutional Court, too,” said the President of the Constitutional Court.
During the meeting, Arman Dilanyan presented to the President the ongoing reforms in the Constitutional Court and the upcoming programs. Both sides emphasized that the close cooperation of the Presidential Institution and the High Court and the coherence of the agendas of the two constitutional bodies guarantee the smooth and uninterrupted work of state bodies in the country.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the need to raise awareness of the activities of the Constitutional Court in the social, educational and other fields, as well as the functions of the Constitutional Court.
The sides also discussed a number of issues related to the education and training of personnel in the judiciary system, and the process and principles of recruitment.
