The newly appointed Ambassador of Venezuela to Armenia presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan

The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Armenia Jesús Rafael Salazar Velásquez presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Congratulating the newly appointed Ambassador, President Khachaturyan wished him success and productive work. “This year is very significant to us. We’ll be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations, and I think that in this sense, your appointment is very symbolic. I believe we will do everything together to give new impetus to our relations and use the potential of our states and our peoples to raise the level of prosperity in our countries,” said the President.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Velásquez noted: “I’d like to convey the warm greetings of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro and the people of Venezuela.”

During the meeting, the sides discussed the opportunities and prospects for the development of Armenian-Venezuelan relations. In his speech, President Khachaturyan noted that the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Venezuela is a good occasion for developing bilateral cooperation and raising the level of political dialogue.

Both sides attached importance to the cooperation of the two countries on international platforms. Ambassador Jesús Rafael Salazar Velásquez highlighted that the upcoming appointment of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Venezuela will have an important role in the activation of contacts and development of relations.

During the meeting, the sides also touched upon the general situation in the South Caucasus, the Azerbaijani side's blockade of the Lachin Humanitarian Corridor and regional issues. Both sides emphasized the imperative of resolving conflicts peacefully and without threat of force.
