President Vahagn Khachaturyan received a group of representatives of the Syrian-Armenian community settled in Armenia

Today, President Vahagn Khachaturyan received a group of representatives of the Syrian-Armenian community settled in Armenia, discussed with them the consequences of the recent earthquake in Syria and the ways of overcoming the emerged difficulties, as well as a number of questions of the community’s interest. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic to Armenia Nora Arissian, the Chairman of the Commission of the Syrian-Armenian Community of the Embassy Dr. George Parseghian, other members of the Commission, Embassy staff members and businessmen were also present at the meeting.

During an informal, friendly conversation, President Khachaturyan once again offered his deepest condolences to the friendly people of Syria on the devastating earthquake that claimed hundreds of innocent lives, left many injured and caused enormous damage.

“We must help each other in tough times. We maintain daily contact with our Syrian partners, trying to soothe your pain to the extent possible.

Once again, I want to offer my condolences to the people of Syria. The most important thing is that you stay strong and never lose hope,” the President noted in his speech.

The Syrian-Armenians expressed their high appreciation for the indispensable help of the Government of Armenia during these challenging days. Ambassador Nora Arissian noted that Armenia proved once again that it is one of the closest friends of Syria and stood by Syria. According to her, even common citizens turned to them with the wish to lend a helping hand.

The President expressed hope that in the nearest future, Syria will manage to overcome the hardships and stand tall, and highlighted his readiness to support the Syrian-Armenian community in overcoming difficulties and deepening the Armenian-Syrian friendly relations that have the best traditions.
