The Office of the President of Armenia presented books to regional libraries

On the instruction of President Vahagn Khachaturyan, on the initiative of the Office of the President and the National Library of Armenia, a number of regional libraries were supplemented with new, contemporary literature on the occasion of Book Gifting Day. The list of the chosen books involves the pieces of both classics and contemporary Armenian and foreign writers.

Today, the representatives of the Office of the President visited the Surenavan and Goravan communities of the Ararat region for gifting books, and the books intended for the frontier branch communities will be delivered through the National Library of Armenia.

Expressing his gratitude for the books, the Director of the Ararat Regional Library Vachagan Petrosyan noted: “Today is really a celebration, for more attention is being paid to our community libraries. Our communities have book supply issues, and I am sure that such initiatives will motivate and encourage reading. I noticed a lot of contemporary books on the list, which are sure to be read. I can confidently say that reading has also become very intensive in our region lately.”

The representatives of the Office of the President visited the National Library of Armenia, where an event dedicated to Book Gifting Day was held.

The Director of the Library Anna Chulyan particularly said in her speech: “Welcome to the National Library of Armenia. Undoubtedly, the birthday of Hovhannes Tumanyan is a celebration itself, by its existence in our history, and it is a double celebration that his birthday has become a Book Gifting Day. I think that this celebration, which has become a beautiful tradition in recent years, has significantly revived our library and book publishing industries.

It’s very pleasant that the President of the Republic of Armenia is so interested in libraries and has been providing great support to our libraries since last year. Today, the Office of the President has prepared donations of 43 books for each of the 13 frontier branch libraries and taking the opportunity, the National Library of Armenia has prepared 13 little packages for the soldiers protecting our borders.”
