The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Armenia Edīte Medne (residence in Tbilisi) presented her credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Congratulating the Ambassador on her appointment, President Khachaturyan wished her fruitful work and expressed confidence that during her diplomatic mission, the Ambassador will make her contribution to the development of Armenian-Latvian cooperation.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the fields and prospects of cooperation between Armenia and Latvia, particularly the field of high technologies, which has great potential for development.
The President also made a detailed reference to regional problems and presented Armenia's position on achieving a stable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
During the meeting, the sides also touched upon the threats of a humanitarian crisis due to the blockade of the Lachin humanitarian corridor and highlighted the urgency of the uninterrupted operation of the humanitarian corridor.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed on putting all their effort into developing cooperation within the European Union and promoting bilateral high-level political dialogue and mutual visits. To reach these goals, they emphasized the importance of having diplomatic missions.
