The newly appointed Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to Armenia Madalena Fischer presented her credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Congratulating the Ambassador on her appointment, President Khachaturyan wished her fruitful work and success during her diplomatic mission.
Madalena Fischer expressed her gratitude to the President for the reception and noted that she will aim her efforts at bringing Armenian-Portuguese relations even closer and raising them to a new qualitative level.
During the meeting, President Khachaturyan highlighted the importance of the realization of the full potential of the development of relations between the two countries in the fields of high technologies, education, tourism and economy. The President also emphasized his readiness to support the initiatives of the Ambassador aimed at the development of cooperation as much as possible.
In her speech, Madalena Fischer expressed her confidence that there is a huge potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of student exchange, digital economy and renewable energy.
During the meeting, the sides also touched upon the importance of the EU civil observation mission, the implementation of Armenia’s obligations within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, as well as the necessity to restore the normal operation of the Lachin Corridor.
During the meeting, the sides agreed on taking steps aimed at the activation of bilateral high-level political dialogue and inter-parliamentary and official contacts.
