The Presidents of Armenia and Egypt made statements for the mass media representatives
The President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan and the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi summed up the results of the meetings held at the Residence of the President of Armenia with statements for the mass media representatives.
The statement of President Vahagn Khachaturyan:
“Your Excellency, Esteemed President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi,
Dear guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,
It is a great honour for us to host the official visit of the delegation led by Your Excellency to the Republic of Armenia, which I can proudly call historic.
The roots of the friendship between our countries come from the depth of centuries, which, in its turn, continues to strengthen by over 30 years of stable relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
I assess the negotiations with my colleague, President El-Sisi, during which we discussed the wide range of cooperation between our two states formed over the years, today's plans and future work for the development of bilateral relations, to be effective.
I would like to mention with great pleasure that today, Armenia and Egypt effectively cooperate in the fields of politics, economy, science, education, culture, tourism and more. Effective cooperation has been formed in a number of multilateral platforms as well.
Of course, the trade turnover between the two countries is not satisfactory yet, but I’m sure that our wide political agenda, as well as the agenda of mutually beneficial cooperation, based on the joint efforts of the governments of the two countries, will deepen further and we will achieve results both in trade and economic exchange and in many other fields.
I find it necessary to record that we have made significant progress in almost all areas of cooperation during the past years. Moreover, we can envisage new perspectives of cooperation. Our countries have signed over fifty documents on cooperation, and several other documents which will put a start to new, interesting initiatives were signed during this visit.
Tourism is developing dynamically. For years, Egypt has been one of the most preferred vacation destinations for Armenian citizens, and the number of our tourists is growing significantly year by year. After Armenia’s recent simplification of the visa regime for the citizens of Egypt, we also expect a large flow of Egyptian tourists to Armenia, which will greatly contribute to the strengthening of Armenian-Egyptian friendly ties and the mutual recognition of the two peoples.
Surely, apart from the bilateral agenda, we also touched on issues of security, political and regional importance during the meeting with President El-Sisi. We also discussed Armenia's efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.
I can’t oversee the fact that the Egyptian-Armenian community, which has been contributing to both the development of Egypt and the strengthening of bilateral ties for centuries, has a significant role in Armenian-Egyptian relations. In this respect, I would like to express special thanks for the care that our compatriots living in Egypt enjoyed and still enjoy at the state level. The Armenian people never forget the cordial welcome and support of the Egyptian people to our children who survived the Genocide.
I am hopeful that in these times full of challenges, the Armenian-Egyptian friendship will be one of the factors due to which our countries will overcome all the hardships and move toward a better future with confidence.
Esteemed Mr. President,
Taking the opportunity, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the excellent organization of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) and the success and positive results achieved.
Once again, I want to highlight the importance of this truly historic visit and wish our two states strong relations and new achievements in our cooperation for the welfare of our peoples.”
