The newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to Armenia Mohamed Mahmoud Dahi presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
President Khachaturyan congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him effective and fruitful work during his diplomatic mission.
“Armenia is willing to activate bilateral relations with Mauritania in different fields and to outline the directions that have prerequisites and are of common interest. Unfortunately, the relations between our countries are not developed. I hope that your appointment will give a new impetus to the development of cooperation. We are ready to support you in this respect,” noted President Khachaturyan.
The newly appointed Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the reception, conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of Mauritania to President Vahagn Khachaturyan and expressed his readiness to contribute to the development of bilateral relations as much as possible.
Ambassador Mohamed Mahmoud Dahi also shared Mauritania’s willingness to open a consulate, and later on an embassy in Armenia. In his speech, the President shared Armenia’s readiness to strengthen the relations with African and Arab countries.
During the meeting, the President touched upon the developments in the region and emphasized Armenia’s approaches to establishing neighbourly relations with the contiguous states and achieving peace. Vahagn Khachaturyan provided details on Azerbaijan’s destructive actions and the blockade of the Lachin Corridor and cessation of gas supply, which pose threats of humanitarian crisis to the citizens of Nagorno Karabakh.
The sides also discussed the need to activate interaction within the framework of Francophonie and other international platforms.
