President Vahagn Khachaturyan participated at the unveiling of the bust of prominent musician and conductor Ohan Duryan
President Vahagn Khachaturyan attended the ceremony of unveiling the bust of prominent musician and conductor Ohan Duryan. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan, other officials and public and cultural figures were also present at the solemn ceremony.
Vahan Vardapetyan, a doctor, public figure and a close friend of Ohan Duryan, delivered an opening speech. In his speech, Vardapetyan particularly noted: “Every commemorative statue should be symbolic, and should be located in a symbolic place.” He also shared how a decision was made to place the bust of Ohan Duryan in the area adjoining the Opera House.
The unveiling of Ohan Duryan's bust was entrusted to his widow, who addressed her words of gratitude to President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Vahan Vardapetyan and the sculptor of the bust Getik Baghdasarian.
Afterwards, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered a welcoming speech particularly noting: “This is truly a very happy occasion, and I must say that I had the honor and the joy of communication with maestro Ohan Duryan within and outside these walls equally. This is actually a disadvantage, for the proper balance would be to interact with him within these walls more than outside, in this square, and I admit that what I saw and heard charged me with a lot of positive energy.”
At the end of the event, the participants laid flowers at Ohan Duryan’s bust.
