We are on our way toward the development of science and advanced technologies: President Vahagn Kahchaturyan visited “Synopsys Armenia” company
Today, President Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the “Synopsys Armenia” company.
Operating in Armenia since 2004, Synopsys Armenia carries out scientific research and engineering works in the fields of electronic device automation, design for manufacturing and the development of semiconductor intellectual property.
The company hosted molecular biologist, neurologist, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Medicine, and professor at Scripps Research Institute, Ardem Patapoutyan, who was in Armenia within the framework of the “Science and Business Days” event, organized by the RA Ministry of Economy.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan congratulated the Armenian scientists. After, accompanied by the president of “Synopsys Armenia” Yervand Zoryan, the President toured the Training Center of “Synopsys Armenia”, got acquainted with the development and educational programs, and talked to the students. While presenting the educational programs, Yervand Zoryan noted, that Synopsys greatly contributes to the educational system of Armenia in training highly qualified and practical specialists. He highlighted, that such visits are very important. “It is an immense honour and joy to host the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan and a prominent Armenian, winner of Nobel Prize Ardem Patapoutyan”, he noted.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan also participated in a panel discussion, dedicated to Ardem Patapoutyan’s activity, as well as the development of science in Armenia.
The Director of Synopsys Armenia Hovik Musayelyan noted:
“This is the first time, that an Armenian scientist wins a Nobel Prize, and I say without exaggeration, that this success is one of our greatest national achievements.
We can present ourselves to the world only with the ability to solve complex engineering and technological problems and, of course, with people well-known around the world in various fields, like Ardem Patapoutyan.”
In his greeting speech, President Vahagn Khachaturyan said, that the achievements of the Armenian Scientist are a bright example of “how we can be presentable to the world with our knowledge.”
“I think this will be a great impulse for the development of science in the Republic of Armenia. We are proud of you. I believe, this is the best example of how we can be presentable to the world with our knowledge”, said the President.
Referring to the existing problems, President Khachaturyan noted, “We love living in dreams. We also want to do politics and shape our political system the same way. This, in its turn, hinders us from realizing an important fact, that there is a reality we don’t want to face. We don’t want to understand or accept the fact that we should do what needs to be done on our own, we don’t have the right to rely on anyone else. We must create our future, manage our daily life, and develop our opportunities and potential on our own.
The 44-day war was the best proof of that. We didn’t manage to value the chances we were granted after 1994. We need to evaluate the reality we are in, accept it and say that the blame is on all of us. It’s not only about the authorities and the government, it’s about all of us, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. We didn’t manage to value our time, change our economy, our worldviews. Now we don’t have a choice, we need to move forward together. And to do so, we need to understand where we are going and what goals we have”, said President Khachaturyan. “This is a very symbolic day. We are on our way toward science, toward advanced technologies, there is no other way. We don't have time anymore because we will lag behind if we don't look forward.
We should all understand, that the key to the strengthening and development of our country is in our hands. We need to identify what kind of a country we want to have, how we imagine our future, and we should consider all the factors.”
The President also noted that the opportunities to use the potential of the Diaspora should be frequently voiced.
“The ideas we had have changed now. That is, the Diaspora shouldn’t be viewed only as a source of support or opportunities. No, the Diaspora should participate in the development of our country, as equals to us, not as guests, and we should hint at how to do so”, said the President.
Summarizing his speech, Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed his gratitude for the invitation once again and highlighted, that such events are truly helpful in evaluating what we have, generating new ideas and coming up with future plans.
During the event, President Khachaturyan and Ardem Patapoutyan talked to the attendees in a question-and-answer format and addressed various issues.
