The Presidents of Armenia and Montenegro made statements for the press
The President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan and the President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic summed up the results of the meetings with statements for the mass media.
The statement of the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan:
“It is a great honour for me to host the president of our fellow country Montenegro, my esteemed colleague, Milo Djukanovic, in Yerevan.
During the detailed talks held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, we discussed the perspectives and practical steps to expand and strengthen the mutually beneficial Armenian-Montenegrin bilateral relations with President Djukanovic, reaffirming our mutual readiness in this regard.
Special reference was made to deepening bilateral economic cooperation and expanding the volume of trade turnover. We noted that there is a great potential for cooperation in the fields of tourism and IT, and we expressed our readiness to support the development in every possible way.
Within that context, we also made a reference to the prospects of cooperation in the fields of industry, healthcare, and renewable energy.
I am happy to note, that the Mayor of Podgorica is also in the delegation of the President of Montenegro. Back in 1978, Yerevan and Podgorica signed a cooperation agreement, and, with President Djukanovic, we agreed to support the authorities of the two capitals in giving new impetus to cooperation.
I discussed with my colleague Armenia's efforts to establish a stable peace in the region. I am happy to note the commonality of our views on bilateral, international and regional issues.
The need for the immediate return of the Armenian prisoners of war and the prompt resolution of other urgent humanitarian issues, including the need to preserve the Armenian cultural monuments in Artsakh and under the control of Azerbaijan was particularly emphasised.
Dear Mr. President, once again, thank you for the honest discussions.”
