Armenian-Lithuanian high-level meetings took place at the Residence of the President
Today, the official welcoming ceremony of the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, who has arrived to Armenia on an official visit, took place at the Residence of the President.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Mrs. Anahit Minasyan welcomed the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, and Mrs. Diana Nausėdienė.
The military orchestra performed the state anthems of Armenia and Lithuania. The Presidents presented to each other the members of the official delegations.
Afterwards, the Presidents of Armenia and Lithuania had a private conversation, which was followed by an extended meeting of the delegations of the two countries.
Welcoming the guests, the President of Armenia noted: “It is a great honor for me to welcome you at the Residence of the President. Your official visit is truly important for our country. This is also a good opportunity for us to get to know each other in person, and, most importantly, present our countries to each other and find ways to realize the existing potential to strengthen and deepen our centuries-old ties.
I assure you that Lithuania is, indeed, a friendly country for us and our citizens. We know the path you have passed, we know your history very well, and our histories have a lot in common. As small countries, we always fought for our independence and freedom. It was the main goal of our peoples and we achieved our goal. Today we have a chance to build our future as independent countries.
We need to look into the future. I am sure that your visit will give new impetus to our relations.”
The President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda thanked for the warm reception and noted:
“This is my first visit to your beautiful country, and this is a good opportunity to invite you to Vilnius this year. As you noted earlier, Armenia has had a number of achievements throughout years and I would like to share the achievements of my country as well. The aim of the visit of my delegation is to strengthen our relations, try to understand each other better.”
The President of Lithuania also mentioned that dialogue and the atmosphere of mutual understanding are very important in ensuring regional peace and stability.
“As you know, I was in Azerbaijan before coming here. We tried to understand their position there, and here we are trying to understand your approaches and position. Dialogue and atmosphere of mutual understanding are very important, as there is no other wat to move forward.”
During the meeting, reference was made to the issues related to the promotion of Armenian-Lithuanian economic ties. It was mentioned that the cooperation in the fields of agriculture, food, industry, advanced technologies, energy and transportation fields could be especially prospective.
The existence of Vilnius-Yerevan direct flights, which contribute to the activation of communication and business ties between the peoples of the two countries, was mentioned with satisfaction.
