President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio
President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio.
President Khachaturyan welcomed the visit of the Italian delegation to Armenia, and noted that it took place on the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Italy. Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed hope that this visit will contribute to the further strengthening and deepening of the Armenian-Italian bilateral relations.
President Khachaturyan stressed that the way leading to a long-lasting and sustainable peace in this region is via dialogue and building an atmosphere of trust. The President stressed the importance of clarifying the status of Artsakh, ensuring the security of the people living there, and protecting their fundamental rights.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy also attached importance to establishing a constructive dialogue and building mutual trust between the sides. Luigi di Maio welcomed the fact that Armenia is striving to move forward along the road of establishing peace.
Both sides stressed the importance of undertaking steps to implement the untapped potential for economic development. They noted that mutually beneficial programs can be implemented in some areas, particularly in the fields of information technologies and education. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy noted that the visit of their delegation can be considered as one of those steps, as some Italian companies have already shown interest in making investments in Armenia.
The sides also exchanged views on the processes taking place in the international arena.
