Lithuania was the first to recognize Armenia's Independence 30 years ago: President of Lithuania Nausėda congratulated President Armen Sarkissian on Independence Day
The President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian on the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Armenia.
The congratulatory message says Nausėda in particular:
"Thirty years ago, Lithuania was the first to recognize Armenia's Independence. On behalf of the people of Lithuania and my own, I would like to heartily congratulate you, all Armenians, on the 30th Anniversary of Independence. I wish peace and prosperity to your country and your people, and continued consolidation, health and success.
This year is of great significance for our bilateral relations. Thirty years ago, our countries recognized each other's independence, and this year, Lithuania and Armenia celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
We support the Armenian people’s aspiration to live in a peaceful, secure, and stable democracy. I am full of hope that you will actively push forward the reforms for the sake of successful and effective cooperation between Armenia and the European Union. This is especially important with the entry of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive Extended Partnership Agreement into force."
