President Armen Sarkissian discussed the progress of projects in Artsakh and Syunik marz with the Executive Director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund

Today, President of the Republic and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Armen Sarkissian held a working discussion with the Executive Director of the Fund Haykak Arshamyan.

The Executive Director of the Fund informed President Sarkissian of the progress of the reconstruction projects, worth about 30 billion drams, being implemented in Artsakh, which include reconstructing community roads and those of state significance, capital repairs of schools, construction of water supply networks, and large-scale house-building. As noted, 817 apartments and 290 houses are planned to build in the first stage of the housing program. Part of the apartments and buildings will have been built by the end of the year in Stepanakert and the Ivanyan community, providing a roof for 457 families, forcibly displaced from Shushi and Hadrut.

President Sarkissian and the Executive Director of the Hayastan Foundation also discussed the programs starting in September in the Syunik region.

After the President of the Republic had visited Syunik in April, on behalf of the President, representatives of the President's Office and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund visited the region, met with the leadership of local self-government bodies and the population. As a result of discussions and needs assessment, a plan of priorities for the communities of the Syunik region was made up to resolve some of the problems of communal, educational and social importance.

This program, worth about one million US dollars, will start in September and will be implemented by stages with the joint efforts of the Office of the President of the Republic and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, also partly, with the financial support of the Office of the President of the Republic.

Noting that assistance to Artsakh and communities of Syunik in the matters of security, and economic and social support is a priority, President Sarkissian said that all means and efforts should be implemented to help our communities and compatriots in need of support. Stressing as essential the responsible realization of projects and the strictest adherence to deadlines, the President expressed satisfaction with the volume and pace of the projects, implemented at present.

Haykak Arshamyan also informed President Sarkissian about the progress in implementing the decisions taken at the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
